Professional Liability Insurance
Professional liability insurance is a type of business insurance that provides coverage for professionals and businesses to protect against claims of negligence from clients or customers. Professional liability insurance typically covers negligence, copyright infringement, personal injury, and more.
For instance, professional liability insurance can protect a small business by covering the costs of a lawsuit in which a customer has charged substandard work.
However, this coverage typically does not include criminal prosecution, nor all forms of legal liability under civil law, only those listed in the policy. Cyber liability, covering data breaches and other technology issues, may not necessarily be included in core policies.
Whereas general liability covers physical risks, such as bodily injuries and property damage, professional liability covers more abstract risks, such as errors and omissions in the services a business provides.
